Robert Caro’s biographies convinced me that democracy and its institutions has never and never will be a bastion of fairness.

We’ve legalized corruption so it can masquerade in the open, from lobbying, to campaign funding through PAC’s, to funding non-profits that produce research that can then be cited as justification for laws and regulations that benefit special interests.

Managerial activism, including judges and attorneys weaponizing our legal and judicial system, are not flaws, but features of these systems.

Bureaucracy in all its forms is subject to the discretion of its managers and enforcers as James Burnham observed in “The Managerial Revolution.”

The solution isn’t to make bureaucracy better, but to replace bureaucracy with a form of social-organization technology that is designed to mitigate bureaucracy’s flaws.

It would have been nice if anyone spoke up about the weaponizing during the Biden administration. Which started this dangerous trend with 91 indictments against Trump. And several civil cases including James’s politically motivated charges against Trump.
